What Is It?

Our original treasure hunt that put us on the map! Engage in the rich history of the USVI & Caribbean piracy as you search for the elusive pirate Captain Jean Hamlin’s treasure.

Your crew will enjoy admission to the immersive Pirates Treasure Museum and a trip to one of St. Thomas’s beautiful beaches to discover the buried treasure. Learn about St. Thomas and Caribbean pirate history while solving engaging puzzles suited for all ages. 

Begin your adventure near the WICO cruise ship dock in Havensight. One of Tropical Treasure Hunt’s friendly and knowledgable guides will meet you right outside of the popular Smoking Rooster BBQ Restaurant next to a large fountain. Get into the spirit of the adventure with pirate swag and an adventure pack, containing locked treasure boxes and tools including an “enchanted torch” to collect pieces of the ancient treasure map. Learn about the fascinating Golden Age of Piracy and hear the incredible true story of Jean Hamlin’s lost pirate vessel, La Trompeuse, and its fiery fate in Charlotte Amalie harbor back in 1683. Find clues to direct you to the Pirates Treasure Museum and enjoy a short walk across the street to the museum.

At the museum, you will have up to an hour to solve puzzles and collect pieces of the treasure map with the help of your adventure pack and the history that surrounds you. The clues will direct your crew to a beautiful beach to uncover Jean Hamlin’s lost treasure! Transportation from Havensight to the beach and back is included. The location of the beach? That’s for you and your crew to discover in order to recover pirate Captain Jean Hamlin’s treasure!

Prior to the hunt, you will have the option to select your own custom treasure to surprise your fellow crew members from our selection of merchandise (treasures purchased separately). You can also provide us with your own treasure to put in the chest (eg., birthday gift, engagement ring, etc.). Please notify Tropical Treasure Hunt if you plan to ship a package to our office ahead of time. Please understand that USPS mail takes longer than shipping in the states.

What’s Included

• Up to 3-hour immersive and challenging treasure hunt with plenty of surprises and thrills along the adventure
• Admission to the Pirates Treasure Museum. This two-story museum incorporates history and interactive exhibits to immerse visitors in the world of pirates. If the Pirates Treasure Museum is closed due to no ships in the harbor, we take our clients to the equally exciting Bluebeards Castle Museum.
• A friendly & professional treasure hunt guide to provide piracy history and supply hints throughout the adventure

What to Bring

• Suitable shoes for walking (no more than 5 minutes at a time)
• Comfortable clothes
• Bag with bathing suit, towels, and flip flops (if you would like the option to take a dip at the beach at the end of the experience; time permitting)
• Cash if you would like to purchase anything at our partners’ establishments including gift shops and quick order food & drinks at a beach bar at the end of the experience
